Class Teacher:

Mrs Gauckwin

Learning Support Assistants:

Miss Millington & Miss Alla

Welcome to Year 3

Thank you for visiting our page. Here you will find information on timetables, homework and details of your child’s learning (on the additional tabs). If you would like to speak to us or have any questions, please make an appointment via the school office.

Timetabling

PE – Children take part in PE every Tuesday morning. Please come in to school wearing PE kits on this day.

Spanish (Monday AM)  – Children will have Spanish lessons with Miss Zarrain, our language specialist from Rainford High School.

Science (Wednesday PM) - Mrs Pullen teaches us Science.

Homework Expectations

Please ensure children complete the following homework weekly:

Spellings – Children take part in spelling lessons throughout the week where we cover patterns and rules. We use 'Pathways to Spell' scheme which coinsides with our Literacy scheme. On Fridays, your child will bring home information on the rules and patterns being covered (with examples), please go over these with your child in preparation for their test the following week. Each child will also have three topic words, linked to what we are covering this half term, plus two words unique to them that they have identified as needing practise.

Reading – Your child will receive a levelled book and children need to be reading this text four times per week. We change reading books when required. Your child also has access to a pleasure book which they keep in their tray in school. This book isn't levelled, but a book they've chosen to read. Children can take these books home to read at both school and home. Making reading part of your bedtime routine is a lovely way to wind down after a busy day and can help children be exposed to a variety of genres and texts.

Times Tables – Children have access to Times Table Rockstars to practise their times tables (link can be found in the 'Maths' tab) and we encourage using this two or three times a week. In Year 4, children take part in a multiplication check so any practise they do now will not only help their arithmetic skills now, but also start to prepare them for their check. If you need a login, please speak to a member of the Year 3 staff. Children are expected to complete 20 sessions of TT Rockstars across the week (Friday to Friday).
