SUMMER 1

During this half term, we will be exploring two texts; ‘Where the Forest Meets the Sea’ by Jeannie Baker and 'Rainforests in 30 Seconds' by Dr Jen Green.

When a young boy visits a tropical rainforest, he pretends it is a long time ago and that extinct and rare animals live in the forest, and aboriginal children play there. But how much longer will the rainforest remain, he wonders?

Throughout our English lessons, children will learn how to use subordination and coordination, use expanded noun phrases, build a rich and varied vocabulary, recognise grammatical differences between plural and possessive 's' and use layout features such as; headings, sub-headings and diagrams.

Children will build upon these skills to produce a non-chronological report for a rainforest exhibit.
