ENGLISH in Year 4

Summer 2

During summer 2, the children will be reading the book Blue John by Berlie Doherty. Through the story, they will explore themes of adventure, mystery and discovery while developing their reading and writing skills. As part of their learning, the children will also investigate how caves are formed, linking their English work with geography and science. The final outcome of the unit will be for the children to write a letter in role, using the thoughts, feelings and experiences of a character from the story to inspire their writing.
