Our text this half term is 'The Last Wolf' by Mini Grey. This is a version of Little Red Riding Hood with a twist! The assessed pice of writing is a letter to an audience about protecting wildlife and trees in a forrest under threat of destruction. Objectives covered include:

Plan or say out loud what is going to be written about

Use punctuation correctly – full stops, capital letters, question marks and exclamtion sentences

Use expanded noun phrases to describe and specify

Use subordination (because) and coordination (and)

Using persuasive devices and language

Use paragrpahs correctly to organise ideas

Use a range of openers and conjunctions, includng and, but,so, that, if

Children will have opportuniteis to describe characters and settings. They will also use their own imagination to substitute characters and events.

They will undertake research about endangered animals and how to protect them.
