Autumn 2 

In Science, Year 1 will be learning all about plants. 

Our Science topic this term is plants. We will be exploring the natural world around us and learning to identify and name a variety of common wild and garden plants. The children will investigate the different parts of a plant, including roots, stems, leaves and flowers, and begin to understand the purpose of each part. We will also be looking closely at trees, learning to recognise the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees. Through observations, discussions and practical activities, we will develop our scientific vocabulary and practise describing and comparing the plants we see. We will encourage the children to ask questions, make careful observations and recognise the importance of looking after the plants and natural environment around us.
