Autumn 1

Our new book is Troll Swap' by Leigh Hodgkinson. 

This term, we will explore the story Troll Swap. We will follow two very different trolls as they swap places and discover that things are not always as they seem!

We will explore friendship, kindness and seeing things from another person’s point of view through discussion, role play and creative writing.

Writing objectives include:

• Write sentences using capital letters and full stops
• Use finger spaces between words
• Use adjectives to describe characters and settings
• Use expanded noun phrases
• Use conjunctions such as and, but, because
• Write in sequence using first, next, then, finally
• Use descriptive vocabulary to make writing interesting
• Write character descriptions
• Retell key events from the story
• Plan and edit writing to improve vocabulary and punctuation
• Read writing aloud and check that it makes sense
• Explore tenses, including progressive form
