Literacy

This half-term, our weekly themes will provide rich opportunities for reading and writing across the curriculum. In Week 1, the focus is Pets and Families, centred around Mog and the Vet. Week 2 explores the Jungle and includes a Talk for Writing (T4W) focus on Mothering Sunday with Monkey Puzzle (My Mum) and The Selfish Crocodile. Week 3 looks at Birds and Owls in connection with Mother’s Day, featuring A Tale of Two Feathers (exploring the differences between owls and other birds) and Owl Babies. Week 4 focuses on Farms with Farmyard Hullabaloo, and Week 5 celebrates Easter through learning about the Easter Story. Throughout the half-term, children will continue to have daily RWI sessions, delivered to their level,  practising reading common exception words and simple phrases, forming lower-case letters correctly and spelling words by identifying and writing the sounds they hear.

RWInc -  Children will now start to bring home RWI materials to share with you at home. Please use reading records to communicate your child's progress with us.
